DISK – Initiative Bild & Ton e.V. aims to support and promote experimental sound and innovative music cultures. Three major issues on the DISK e.V. agenda are: Projects and research about the correlation of sound, society, and other forms of art and culture; to foster international exchange between artists, initiatives, scenes, and organisations; and to support independent, experimental musicking locally in its hometown of Berlin, as well as globally, ranging from DIY, experimental, and avant pop musics through to traditions of academic music and research.
DISK e.V. is the organizational body behind CTM – Festival for Adventurous Music and Arts, which since 2019 has been awarded multi-year funding from Berlin's Senate Department for Culture and Europe. With the festival, DISK is a co-organizer of the EU-funded projcts SHAPE+, and tekhné.
From 2005–2014 DISK e.V. was a co-founder of Inn.to, a cooperatively run building in the heart of Berlin that included artist studios and offices for cultural projects.
DISK e.V. was the host organisation of General Public, a non-profit project space located on the building's ground floor until 2014, after which it became nomadic until 2015. In 2012 it was awarded the inaugural award for independent project spaces and initiatives by Berlin’s cultural senate.
DISK e.V. was founded in fall 2005, and is a member of Initiative Neue Musik Berlin.
